What to expect from Instagram

A Reel URL identifies one short video, while a profile URL points to an account containing many posts. Open the Reel itself before copying the link. For a mixed carousel, IOdown processes at most one media item; it does not export the whole carousel or download still photos. Public posts can still fail if Instagram asks the download server to sign in.

Photos, Stories, private-account posts and whole-carousel exports are outside this workflow. A publicly visible Reel may still trigger a server login requirement.

Request and inspect one file

1. Open the individual item using the link guide above, then paste its complete address into the form.
2. Select Get video and read the progress or error shown. A request may fail even when the source plays in your browser.
3. When a file is ready, preview it and compare it with the original before choosing Download MP4.

Check the result before saving

Preview the chosen carousel item, duration and audio. IOdown adds no watermark; source logos and text remain. A silent original stays silent.

The available compatible media is packaged in MP4. IOdown does not upscale it, recreate missing audio or remove source watermarks.

Find the saved file on your device

Choose Download MP4 before the expiry time shown with the result. On iPhone or iPad, check the browser downloads and Files app; on Android, check Downloads in your file manager. On a computer, use the browser’s downloads list. If the file opens in a player, use its save action.

Resolve common Instagram problems

A public Reel fails although it plays in my app

If a public Reel plays in your logged-in Instagram app but fails here, the server may be receiving a login check. Opening it on your phone does not give IOdown your session. A private-account link cannot be made public by changing its URL.

The carousel contains several videos

One request prepares at most one media item. Check which item appears in the preview; it does not export all slides or convert photos into a video.

For an expired output file, request the original item again only if it is still accessible. For a source access error, follow the specific message before retrying.
